Clete Thomas Out For Season After Knee Surgery

It's been a rough season for Clete Thomas and it got worse after suffering a season-ending knee injury. From The Detroit Free Press:

Outfielder Clete Thomas, who has spent this season at Triple-A Toledo, will miss the rest of the season after microfracture surgery on his knee Friday.

Thomas was hitting just .183/.318/.408 in 21 games this season with the Mud Hens. It was all down hill for Thomas after he didn't break out of Spring Training with the Tigers despite hitting .389/.500/.583 in 14 spring games. There simply wasn't any room for the young outfielder on the big club. Maybe things would have played out differently if he had made the team, but in hindsight it looks like the Tigers made the right move. Hopefully, Thomas has a speedy recovery and can be a benefit to the roster at some point next season.
