Galarraga Gets Standing Ovation...In Chicago?

It’s no secret that there is a huge rivalry between the two cities of Detroit and Chicago. After all, these are the people that have no qualms reminding us that “Detroit Sucks” at nearly every major sporting event.

But in light of the highway robbery Armando Galarraga experienced last week, the Windy City decided to give it a rest last night. Fox Sports Detroit’s John Keating reported that the fans at U.S. Celluar Field gave Armando a standing ovation:

Armando Galarraga took the mound after his VIRTUAL perfect game to a long ovation from the baseball fans here. They stood and they applauded, politely and lengthily — another reminder that if you do the right thing, people notice. It was another dose of appreciation from a sturdy fandom.

Armando’s handling of the situation and comments afterward have made him a celebrity overnight, even in Chicago.
