Photos: Michigan State's New Football Helmet

New, 2 comments

When Michigan State first released pictures of its new football uniforms, one thing that was a bit odd was that you couldn't see a ton of detail of what the helmet looked like. Usually when new uniforms come out, many pictures from different angles are available, but there was some mystery around the helmet and what it looked like as a whole.

Thanks to a poster on Spartan Tailgate's Red Cedar Message Board, we now have a couple looks at the new helmet, including one that reveals that the stripe in the middle trails off as it goes towards the back. Check it out:

The interesting thing about these two pictures is that the top helmet appears to be shiny, whereas the bottom one seems to have a matte finish. Personally I like the bottom one more, but I'm not sure if that's just the way the picture looks or if MSU will actually have a matte helmet (much like Oregon, Missouri and some other schools had last year for select games).

While we are on the subject of uniforms, one other thing I wanted to mention is that a designer for NCAA Football 11 confirmed that MSU's new digs didn't make it into the game. Usually EA Sports gets the designs ahead of time so they can put them in the game, but MSU apparently didn't supply them until a week after it was too late.
