The first is Mark Scarpinato, a defensive tackle from Milwaukee. Scarpinato is a three-star recruit, according to, and has offers from Akron, Army, Central Michigan, Florida International and Western Michigan. Scout has yet to evaluate Scarpinato and ESPN gives him three stars.

Trae Waynes is the second player that committed to MSU on Monday. He is a safety from Kenosha that is a two-star recruit on Rivals and has three stars on ESPN. Like with Scarpinato, Scout hasn't evaluated him yet. In addition to MSU, he has offers from Illinois, Iowa State and Wisconsin.

With Scarpinato and Waynes now members of the 2011 recruiting class, MSU has a total of nine commits. Three of them play offense, four play defense and two are athletes who could end up on offense or defense.
