Galarraga, Joyce Reunite At ESPYs

Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga and MLB umpire Jim Joyce made headlines around the nation after Joyce infamously blew a call that cost Galarraga a perfect game. Galarraga and Joyce’s gracious handling of the situation was met with praise around the world, and the two were back together again last night.

Galarraga and Joyce presented the award for “Best Moment” at the 2010 ESPY awards in Los Angeles last night. The winner: Landon Donovan’s thrilling last minute goal against Algeria in the World Cup that put the United States through to the round of 16.

The Tigers themselves lost out on the “Best Game” award to the United States/Canada gold medal match at the Olympics. “Game 163” between the Tigers and Twins was also nominated.

Other Michigan-related nominees included Venus Williams, Mark Ingram, Charles Woodson and Ryan Miller, but all lost in their respective categories.
