Is Daniel Schlereth's Elbow Bothering Him?

The Tigers sent reliever Daniel Schlereth back down to Triple-A Toledo between games of Saturday's day-night doubleheader versus the Cleveland Indians. The move cleared a spot for Rick Porcello, who started the second game of the twinbill.

Schlereth wasn't great in his two weeks with the Tigers, giving up seven hits in 3.2 innings with only one strikeout. But after watching him in person, Baseball Prospectus' Will Carroll - the man to read when it comes to injuries - thinks Schlereth might have been dealing with some elbow issues.

Daniel Schlereth came in on Friday night when I was at Jac - err, Progressive Field in Cleveland. He wasn't very good and kept shaking his hand, a sign that often points to ulnar nerve issues. He was sent down after the game, but keep an eye on this one.

If there's a problem, the Tigers (and Mud Hens) will surely rest Schlereth for a few days and hope more serious treatment isn't required.
