A few names have been tossed around as veterans the Red Wings could sign, including Mike Modano and Doug Weight, who both are from Michigan. One name that stuck out to me, however, is that of Slava Kozlov.
The Red Wings know they aren't major players in the free agent market this year, but that doesn't mean they won't be actively pursuing certain athletes.
Red Wings GM Ken Holland has spoken with veteran center Mike Modano and is also believed to be interested in former Wing Slava Kozlov.
Kozlov was part of the Red Wings' organization from 1991-2001 and was a member of both of the teams that won the Stanley Cup during that time. Since leaving Detroit, he has played for Buffalo (only one season) and Atlanta (for seven seasons).
