Detroit Red Wings prospect Ben Marshall won't need surgery to repair a broken wrist he suffered at the team's development camp earlier this month.
↵Scott Marshall, Ben's father, and Wings assistant GM Jim Nill announced that the injury wasn't as serious as previously thought. Nill said it was a "clean break," and Scott Marshall said he wouldn't need surgery or a plate in his wrist.
↵Ben Marshall was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NHL draft. Marshall is skipping his senior season at Mahtomedi HS (Minn.) to play in the USHL next year. Marshall tallied 20 goals and 39 assists in his junior season for Mahtomedi and will play college hockey for Minnesota after his year in the USHL.
