Although a deal is not in place currently, the Lions expect to have second overall pick Ndamukong Suh under contract at some point today, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The Lions are closing in on a deal and expect to sign defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh today, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations.
Suh was still in Nebraska getting ready for camp yesterday, so hopefully he is on his way to Allen Park if he isn't already there now. With Sam Bradford agreeing to a deal last night, the main obstacle keeping a Suh deal from happening was taken out of play. Now it should just be straight negotiating taking place, so hopefully the two sides can get something worked out.
Missing one practice isn't the end of the world by any means, but it would really be nice if Suh could get his deal done before 3 p.m. That is when the first practice of camp is set to be held, and although he would need to take the conditioning test (the team took it this morning) before practicing, that shouldn't be a big issue.
