Galarraga Expected To Make Next Start

It looked scary when it happened, but it appears the line drive that Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga took off his right ankle won’t force him to miss any time.

Head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said that “indications are good” that Galarraga will make his next start:

“Armando has minimal swelling today, and he has pretty good range of motion,” Rand said. “He was able to do his conditioning. He should be OK.”

Galarraga took a line drive off the bat of Boston’s Kevin Youkilis in the fifth inning on Friday that knocked him out of the game. Galarraga was one out away from getting out the frame, which would have qualified him for a win, but was taken out. It appeared that Galarraga wanted to stay in and at least get the last out, but Jim Leyland erred on the side of caution and yanked him.
