Although Joe Dumars denied that he had been interviewed by the Nets, speculation about him and New Jersey continued after a separate report came out stating that the Nets were interested in him. The feeling isn't mutual, though, as evidenced by a statement Dumars released on Monday night.
"In response to today's media reports regarding the New Jersey Nets, I can say that I do not have any interest in a basketball operations position with the Nets," Dumars said in a statement released by the Pistons.
"My priority is to continue leading the Pistons' basketball operations efforts and putting together a team that is ready to compete and get back on track next season."
This whole story never really made sense from the perspective that Dumars would be interested in the Nets job, so it's not too surprising that he has confirmed that lack of interest in leaving Detroit for New Jersey.
