Tate Forcier's Helmet Doesn't Have Wings? Everybody Panic!

The Big Ten Network got access to Michigan's practice today, and Brent Yarina, the BTN's blogger, snapped a picture of Tate Forcier taking a break on the sideline. Next to him in the picture is his helmet, which apparently is without its maize wings. Naturally, this quickly led to speculation about why Forcier's helmet doesn't have wings despite the fact that Yarina posted this soon after:

The #Michigan people told us not to read anything into the lack of wings on some helmets.

This only set off more speculation because it could mean that some players, including Forcier, need to earn the wings on their helmets. It's not a completely outlandish idea given what Troy Woolfolk had to say about Forcier's work ethic (or lack thereof) in the offseason, but it doesn't make sense considering this is a shot from today's "Countdown to Kickoff" video on MGoBlue.com, which shows footage from yesterday's practice.

Unless something happened from yesterday's practice to today to cause Forcier to lose his wings, I would imagine he simply got a new helmet that doesn't have them yet. While I can understand the speculation, it seems a little unnecessary to jump to conclusions like many have.
