We noted earlier this week that Tracy McGrady was officially introduced by the Detroit Pistons. Today, McGrady explained to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press why he chose to sign with the Pistons, crediting team president Joe Dumars.
McGrady said Dumars has a great relationship with his agent, Arn Tellem, and after meeting with the Pistons, he thinks it will be a good fit.
“When I came here for my visit and had a conversation with him — which just made me feel comfortable — and I felt like this was the right situation for me,” said McGrady, a 13-year veteran. "I had other situations out there, but something told me this is it.
“Something in my heart told me to make this decision. I felt comfortable being around Joe.”
Dumars, an NBA Hall Of Famer, has long been one of the most respected names in the game. Even though his recent track record hasn’t been the greatest, it’s surely comforting for Pistons fans that he has the ability to establish a rapport with players and agents.
