Will Brandon Inge Remain A Tiger After Cardinals Get Pedro Feliz?

New, 1 comment

One of the intriguing stories surrounding the Detroit Tigers this week is whether or not the team will put Brandon Inge through waivers with the intention of trading him to a playoff contender. (Some guys think the Tigers should go ahead and do it.)

The team that seemed most interested in Inge's services was the St. Louis Cardinals, who were in need of a third baseman after David Freese suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

But if Dave Dombrowski is indeed looking to trade Inge, he can scratch the Cardinals off his list of potential trade partners. They got themselves another third baseman Thursday, acquiring Pedro Feliz from the Houston Astros for a minor league pitcher.

The Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins were reportedly also looking at Inge. But the Cardinals appeared to have the greatest need (and most interest). And the Braves dealt for Derrek Lee yesterday, which might mean they're fine with Martin Prado or former Tiger Omar Infante filling in at third.

Baseball's August 31 waiver trade deadline is still more than a week away, but the options for the Tigers are quickly running out.
