Jason Beck is reporting that Johnny Damon informed the media this afternoon that he is not going to accept a move to Boston to rejoin the Red Sox. Because his no-trade list includes the Red Sox, any move involving Boston had to be cleared with him, and in the end he opted to stick with the Tigers.
Damon: "I'm not going."
What this means is that the Tigers will pull Damon off waivers and he will not be able to be put through them again, so he will finish the 2010 season in Detroit. Damon has already made it known that he'd like to stay in Detroit next season and beyond, but he is a free agent, so whether or not the Tigers bring him back remains to be seen.
For the next month or so at least, though, Damon will remain a Tiger.
