NFL Scout Predicts Lions To Go 9-7

Every offseason there is plenty of Kool-Aid flowing amongst Lions fans. There is never a shortage of hope and optimism no matter how bad the team looks on paper. While the hope and optimism has never turned into a winning season in the last decade, what fun is it if you're not going to make a few outlandish predictions about your favorite team during the offseason? After all, every team is undefeated in the summer.

The one difference about the 2010 edition of the Lions is that all of the hope and optimism about the team isn't coming from strictly Lions fans. Sure, in the past there has been an expert here or there that picks the Lions to win the NFC North or be a surprise team, but it's been a while since so many unbiased people have predicted big things in the future for the Lions. Case in point:

A veteran NFL scout offers the following observation:

"They'll be 9-7. They'll win at Chicago."

Predicting a win in the season opening game at the Bears is not unusual by any means, but a 9-7 prediction from a scout is very nice to hear. While plenty of Lions fans are optimistic, most aren't quite that hopeful. After all, a 9-7 record would be the Lions' first winning season since before Matt Millen and would put them in the hunt for a playoff spot. The thought of that alone is hard to even comprehend, but it is yet another sign that the Lions are making progress, at least on paper anyways.
