The NHL Network will continue airing its series “Raising the Cup” next week, and once again the Red Wings will be one of the teams on tap.
↵On Wednesday, August 11, the network will air Game 5 of the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Carolina Hurricanes. The super-loaded 2002 team featured the likes of Brett Hull, Dominik Hasek and Luc Robitaille joining the Red Wings’ already-stacked roster. The team also featured a $65 million payroll and was one of the key reasons behind the push for a salary cap.
↵Last week NHL Network aired the 1997 and 1998 Detroit Cup wins. They are going in order with their airings, so I assume the 2008 team will get its time in the limelight very soon.
