Tigers Purchase Contract Of Max St. Pierre, Recall Robbie Weinhardt

The rosters expand for MLB teams today, and the Tigers have made two moves in conjunction with the extra roster space.

The first move is purchasing the contract of catcher Max St. Pierre, who has spent all 14 seasons of his career in the minor leagues. He has played almost 1,000 games in the minors during his career, and almost all of them have come with the Tigers organization. To say this is a very nice move is an understatement, as St. Pierre's hard work in the minors is finally going to be rewarded with a promotion to the Tigers. (Check out Bless You Boys for a great piece on St. Pierre's call-up.)

The other move for the Tigers is recalling pitcher Robbie Weinhardt, who was just sent down last week. Adding Weinhardt will give the bullpen another arm to work with in the final month of the season.
