Niklas Kronwall Resumes Skating, Expects To Be Ready For Season

Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall has had a rough go of things since Georges Laraque blasted his knee on Nov. 21 last year. But it appears the Wings’ big hitter won’t miss much, if any time after resuming skating today.

“It was nice even if I wasn’t out there competing in drills,” Kronwall said. “It was nice just to be out there for 25 minutes and skate around.”
↵Kronwall said he expects “for sure” to be ready by the time the season starts next month. In fact, he doesn’t even anticipate having to miss much of training camp, which begins Sept. 18.

Kronwall had his knee scoped Aug. 31 to repair a torn lateral meniscus. He missed 30 games last year after Laraque delivered a knee-on-knee hit that sprained Kronwall’s medial collateral ligament.
