Just a few days ago we relayed the report that the Tigers believed Carlos Guillen's season was most likely finished. Today, the Tigers announced that it was indeed over, but it might require more than just rest for Guillen to heal.
Via Chris Iott at MLIVE:
The Detroit Tigers announced today that Guillen will undergo a "diagnostic surgical procedure" on Sept. 17 and will be out for the remainder of the 2010 season.
If the diagnostic surgical procedure reveals that Guillen could need more work done on the knee, it could very well jeopardize his availability for the start of next season, when he's due $13 million.
Awesome.
