Nathan Vasher Signs With Lions

As Ian mentioned over the weekend, former Bears CB Nathan Vasher worked out for the Lions last Thursday. The Detroit Free Press is now reporting that Vasher has signed with the Lions.

Vasher spent six seasons with the Bears before heading to the San Diego Chargers in the offseason. He was then released at the end of camp. Vasher worked out for the Lions last week, but there wasn't exactly a dire need to bring him on board. After Aaron Berry suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Bears, there was suddenly a need. Vasher was brought in today to work out a deal to help add not only depth, but coveted experience. Also, by signing him now as opposed to before the season, his contract is no longer guaranteed.

Dave Birkett from the Free Press speculates that Berry's injury could land him on the injured reserve and be the corresponding move to get the roster down to 53.
