The Detroit Tigers' 2011 schedule was just made public. Although the 2010 season isn't even finished yet, it's never too early to look ahead to next year, especially considering the Tigers have been out of contention for a playoff spot for some time now.
The 2011 campaign for the Tigers will start on March 31 at the New York Yankees. (The Yankees come to Detroit for a four-game series in the first week of May.) Detroit will stay on the road against an AL East team for the next series (against Baltimore) before making their home debut on April 8 against the Kansas City Royals.
The first trip out west will come a week later when the Tigers head to Oakland and Seattle for six games. The next trip out west won't be until interleague play in June. The Tigers get to play at the Rockies and Dodgers from June 17-22 before returning home to finish up interleague play with three straight home series, against the Diamondbacks, Mets and Giants. The first interleague series of the season will be in May against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
The Tigers' 2011 schedule wraps up in September with seven straight home games. The Orioles come in for a four-game series before the Indians come to town from Sept. 26-28 to finish the season.
