Jim Leyland Manages 3,000th Career Game

Sunday night's game between the Tigers and White Sox was a memorable one, and not just because of the wild finish. It was actually Jim Leyland's 3,000th career game as a manager, which is quite remarkable. Only 17 other managers have been around for that many games, and I'm sure Leyland won't be forgetting how his 3,000th game went anytime soon. Then again, he didn't want to talk too much about the accomplishment.

"It's about the players, not about me," he grumbled Sunday.

I wouldn't expect anything else out of Leyland, but he should be proud of what he has accomplished.

Leyland is 20th in victories with 1,486, and he should catch Clark Griffith at 1,491 before the end of the season. On the list of losses, Leyland is 16th at 1,511.

With 13 games left on the schedule, Leyland will finish the 2010 season with 3,013 career games as a manger.
