Red Wings Open Preseason With 5-1 Loss To Penguins

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Ryan Craig scored two goals, lifting the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 5-1 win over Detroit in the preseason opener for both teams.

It also marked the first-ever game at CONSOL Energy Center, the Penguins' new home rink.

Sidney Crosby and Brett Sterling each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh, which wrapped up its residency at Mellon Arena with a forgettable Game 7 loss to Montreal in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Marc-Andre Fleury started in goal for the Penguins and stopped all but one of the 21 shots he saw in 40 minutes. Brad Thiessen made five saves in the third period.

Ruslan Salei scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, while veteran Chris Osgood was beaten five times on 27 shots through two periods. Thomas McCollum turned aside all 10 shots he faced in relief.
