As has been documented on SB Nation Detroit, injuries are already starting to pile up for the Red Wings. Kris Draper, Johan Franzen and Derek Meech are just some of the players recovering from injuries, and you can now add Jiri Hudler, who hurt his foot, to the list.
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said X-rays were negative, there was no fracture, and that Hudler is "day-to-day.''
"His foot hurts, he can't put a lot of pressure on it,'' Holland said.
Hudler hurt his foot by blocking a shot during the Red and White Game (apparently he wasn't using skate guards like Nicklas Kronwall and others on the Red Wings). Although he was quite sore earlier in the week, he tested it on Friday and things went well.
Forward Jiri Hudler (sore left foot from blocking a shot) also skated today and said he’s doing better, too. Coach Mike Babcock said Hudler might play in Sunday's exhibition against the Rangers.
Thankfully Hudler didn't break his foot, so he should be back soon.
