NFL Roster Cuts: Lions Also Cut Ko Simpson

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported via Twitter that the Detroit Lions have released safety Ko Simpson, adding to the other three cuts that the team announced earlier today.

Simpson is in his fifth NFL season, and was expected to be the Lions’ starting strong safety before training camp began. He spent the first three years of his career with the Buffalo Bills.

Last season with the Lions, Simpson played in eight games, starting five of them. He compiled 30 tackles and one interception, before being placed on injured reserve in November, due to a knee injury that eventually required microfracture surgery.
