NFL Roster Cuts: Dré Bly Among Lions Final Cuts Saturday

The Detroit Lions had until 6 p.m. ET to trim their roster to the required 53 players on Saturday. Some of the cuts were announced earlier today, with surprising names like Jon Jansen and Ko Simpson among them.

But one of the biggest names was saved for last, in cornerback Dré Bly. Here are the final cuts just announced, courtesy of MLive.com’s Tom Kowalski:

Running Backs: DeDe Dorsey

Wide Receivers: Brian Clark, Tim Toone, Michael Moore

Offensive Tackles: Jon Jansen, Cliff Louis

Offensive Guards: Noah Franklin

Offensive Centers: Dan Gerberry

Defensive Tackles: Rob Callaway, Landon Cohen

Linebackers: Caleb Campbell, Vinny Ciurciu

Cornerbacks: Dré Bly, Eric King, Paul Pratt, T.J. Rushing, Dante Wesley, Jonathan Hefney

Safety: Ko Simpson

Kicker: Steven Hauschka

Earlier in the day, the Lions also acquired cornerback Alphonso Smith from the Denver Broncos, in exchange for tight end Dan Gronkowski. That squeezed at least one defensive back off the roster, though it’s not clear who Smith supplanted.

Gronkowski would likely have been among the final cuts, as well, had he not been traded to Denver.
