Although the final round of NFL roster cuts was held yesterday, the Lions are not done adjusting their roster just yet. Just as last year following the final round of cuts, they have already made a move by claiming a player released by another team off waivers. A few moves like that were made this time last year, and today the Lions made one by claiming Spencer Havner off waivers.
Havner was released yesterday by the Packers. He started his career as a linebacker and converted to tight end last offseason. In 2009, he appeared in all 16 games, starting once for Green Bay. In total, he had seven catches for 112 yards and four touchdowns.
In order to make room on the roster for Havner, the Lions released Dennis Northcutt. That means that Detroit has four receivers and four tight ends on the roster right now.
