Michigan Ranked 26th In AP Top 25 Poll

What a difference a game makes.

Coming into the first week of the season, Michigan was not only unranked, but it didn't even receive a single vote in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. After beating UConn, however, Michigan has jumped all the way up to 26th in the AP Top 25, just one spot out of the official poll. Here is what the bottom of the AP Top 25 looks like:

24. South Carolina 164
25. Stanford 96
26. Michigan 71

A win against Notre Dame would for sure mean Michigan is ranked in the AP Top 25 next week. You would think a 2-0 start with a win over the Irish would vault Michigan into the top 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll as well, but that's not a guarantee by any means, as the Wolverines are currently only 35th. Notre Dame is actually 27th in the USA Today Coaches Poll and MSU is one spot behind Michigan. In the AP Top 25, on the other hand, Notre Dame is 31st and MSU only has two points.

I guess that just shows you how big some of the differences can be between the two polls at the start of the season.
