Armando Galarraga, Jim Joyce Reunion Set For Friday

If everything goes according to how it's scheduled right now, Jim Joyce will be the home-plate umpire on Friday when Armando Galarraga takes the hill for the Tigers.

It will be the first time the two are involved in the same game since Galarraga's perfect game bid in June that was brought to an end by Joyce's infamous blown call at first base. The two made national headlines and exchanged handshakes before the game the next day, and then the two appeared at the ESPYs together in July. On Friday, though, it will just be business as usual for Galarraga.

"It's going to happen, anyway, sooner or later," Galarraga said. "It'll be OK. He'll do his job. I'll do my job."

When Galarraga faced the Indians for the first time since his near-perfect game, he threw a one-hitter and didn't allow a single baserunner until the fifth inning. There's no telling what will happen tomorrow night against Baltimore, but it would only be fitting for history of the right kind to be made with Galarraga on the mound and Joyce behind home plate.
