The Puerto Rico Tip-off in San Juan is underway and the Western Michigan Broncos are off to a rough start against the Temple Owls. The Owls lead 37-21 at the halftime break behind eight points each from Micheal Eric and Ramone Moore. Juan Fernandez and Khalif Wyatt also have seven points apiece for the Owls, who have gotten off to a balanced start.
Temple got off to a 9-0 run to start the contest and Western Michigan did not score until the 16:01 mark of the first half. The Broncos have gotten seven points from Flenard Whitfield, but they are only shooting 23% from the field in the first half. Their slow start can be attributed to Temple's tough defense, which has also limited them to 2 of 9 shooting from beyond the three point arc.
Nate Hutcheson added five first half points for the Broncos, who will have to improve their second half shooting in order to come back.
