After a nip-and-tuck first half, the Michigan State Spartans pulled away from the plucky Central Connecticut State Blue Devils to win 89-69 on Wednesday night in East Lansing.
Freshman guard Travis Trice was the gamebreaker for the Spartans, coming off the bench to hit all four of his three pointers en route to 20 points, shattering his previous personal high of seven points. Trice rained in three of his threes in the second half and was fouled and made three straight free throws on another play as the Spartans slowly but surely pulled away.
Forward Brendan Dawson also came up big for Michigan State, adding 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, including 7 on the offensive glass.
With the victory, Michigan St. stayed unbeaten at home, 6-0, moved to 7-2 overall, and won for the seventh time in a row.
The Spartans will travel far from the friendly confines of East Lansing when they visit the No. 22 Gonzaga Zags on Saturday.
