Miguel Cabrera Arrested For DUI And Resisting An Officer In Florida

Miguel Cabrera was arrested late last night on suspicion of driving under the influence and two counts of resisting an officer (without violence) [via Detroit Free Press]:

He was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail at 12:20 a.m. today and released at 7:45 a.m. after posting $1,350 bond, according to information provided by Mark Weinberg from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office

Cabrera’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and his speech was heavily slurred, according to deputies who arrested him in on Okeechobee Road in Ft. Pierce.

In an arrest affidavit, deputies said Cabrera repeated "Do you know who I am, you don’t know anything about my problems."

According to the police report, it took 3-4 knee spikes to Cabrera's left leg to get him into the squad car. There are no reports on what his blood alcohol content was (he refused to take a test), but judging from the facts it doesn't look good, at all.

This is roughly a year and a half after Cabrera was arrested on the morning of a big, important game after a domestic-abuse complaint was called in by his wife. Cabrera's teammates are worried about him and the Tigers held a closed-door meeting this morning, presumably to discuss the situation and how the team might handle it going forward.

This is disappointing news, and just hours after I wrote that you should feel all warm and cozy inside because of Cabrera's contract.  We'll definitely be updating this StoryStream as news becomes available, so check back later for more.
