Tigers Open Spring Training Slate With Exhibition Vs. Florida Southern University

Baseball will be played today, as the Tigers lace 'em up against Florida Southern University, a semi-annual tradition that started when Al Kaline's grandson Colin Kaline (product of Birmingham Groves High School) started attending school and playing ball there.

The game will not be televised or broadcasted on the radio, but you can follow the live stats on the Mocs website

Here are today's lineups:

Detroit Tigers

CF Austin Jackson
2B Will Rhymes
RF Magglio Ordonez
DH Victor Martinez
SS Jhonny Peralta
LF Brennan Boesch
3B Brandon Inge
1B Ryan Strieby
C Alex Avila

and on the hill, LHP Andrew Oliver.

Florida Southern

LF Cory Jensen
2B Colin Kaline
RF Colin Kish
3B Mike Snyder
DH Tony Mitchell
CF Kevin Clark
1B Tyler Benzel
C Zach Maggard
SS Jimmy Correnti

and on the hill, Czenszak

The Tigers' starters are only expected to bat around once. I suspect Johnny Wholestaff (or is it Jhonny Wholestaff now?) will make an appearance for both teams.

First pitch is slated for three minutes ago.
