Split-Squad 6-2 Wins For The Tigers In Spring Training

The Tigers improved to 5-0 this Spring Training season with a pair of 6-2 split-squad victories, one at 'home' against the Toronto Blue Jays and the other on the 'road' against the Philadelphia Phillies

At the Tigers' Spring Training home in Lakeland, the majority of the A-lineup beat up on Blue Jays' lefty Ricky Romero, who lasted only 2.1 innings while giving up five hits and four earned runs. Miguel Cabrera had his first hit of the Spring, a three-run double, and Victor Martinez added three hits for the Tigers. Jacob Turner picked up the win, tossing three innings of one-run ball.

On the road against the brunt of the Phillies' A-squad, Ryan Raburn tripled in a run off of former Cy Young winner Cliff Lee in the first inning and then later hit a two-run homer off of former Tiger Eddie Bonine, pacing the Tigers' B-squad to a similar 6-2 win. Andy Oliver picked up the win after giving up a run in three innings of work. Adam Wilk, Enrique Gonzalez, and Robbie Weinhardt struck out six in five scoreless innings of relief.

The Tigers continue their busy week of Spring Training with a full-squad game tomorrow against the Houston Astros, first pitch at 1:05 p.m.
