The regular season Big Ten champion Ohio State Buckeyes clinched the 2011 Big Ten tournament championship this afternoon in Indianapolis with a 71-60 win over Penn State. The game was fairly close at halftime with Penn State down only six, but Ohio State pulled away with a 42-point second half to win by 11.
Ohio State's scoring came from six players. Three had scoring in double figures: Jared Sullinger (15), Jon Diebler (15) and William Buford (18). Aaron Craft had nine points, and David Lighty and Dallas Lauderdale added eight and six, respectively.
For Penn State, it was the Talor Battle and Jeff Brooks show. Battle scored 24 points and went 9-20 from the field. Brooks had 19 points on 7-14 shooting from the field. The rest of Penn State's players combined for only 17 points.
The Buckeyes' victory helped them clinch the No. 1 overall seed in the 2011 NCAA basketball tournament. OSU goes into the tournament with a 32-2 record, so it's no surprise it received the top overall seed.
