MLB Draft Order: Detroit Tigers Don't Pick Until 2nd Round

The 2011 MLB Draft begins at 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Monday, June 6. The first round will take place on Monday night, and the MLB Draft will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at noon each day. Rounds 2-30 are set to take place on Tuesday, and Wednesday will feature rounds 31-50.

For Detroit Tigers fans, there won't be a reason to tune into draft coverage until Tuesday. That is because they don't appear in the MLB draft order until the second round. The Tigers' first-round pick went to the Boston Red Sox for signing Victor Martinez, and they don't have any picks in the compensatory round, either. (Boston received a compensatory pick for Martinez signing with Detroit, and the Tampa Bay Rays got one for Joaquin Benoit going to the Tigers.)

The Tigers' first pick in the 2011 MLB Draft will not actually come until the 76th overall selection. After that they will go back on the clock with the 106th overall pick. In rounds 4-50, the Tigers will pick 16th.
