Tigers Host World Champion Giants

The Detroit Tigers will get a good look at the defending world champion San Francisco Giants tonight when the two teams open a three-game set at Comerica Park.

The Tigers will send Brad Penny (5-6, 4.66 ERA) to the mound as he looks for his first win since June 5. He only gave up two runs his last time out, but got a no-decision against Arizona.

The Giants will counter with Madison Bumgarner (4-9, 3.84 ERA).

Detroit's bullpen will be a little thin tonight with word that reliever Al Alburquerque was reportedly placed on the disabled list due to elbow inflammation. Alburquerque has been Detroit's most impressive bullpen threat this season, striking out 47 batters in 29 innings to go along with a 2.79 ERA.
