Chance Ruffin Sent To Seattle To Complete Doug Fister, David Pauley Trade

The Doug Fister and David Pauley trade is complete, and another fun name is involved.

According to the Tigers official Twitter feed, the Tigers sent the Seattle Mariners 22-year-old Chance Ruffin as the aforementioned player to be named later to finalize the deal once and for all.

That now means the Tigers acquired starting pitcher Doug Fister and reliever David Pauley from the Mariners in exchange for left-handed pitcher Charlie Furbush, outfielder Casper Wells, minor league third baseman Fernando Martinez, and right-handed reliever Chance Ruffin. Best trade of names ever? Best trade of names ever.

Ruffin has bounced around a bit in first professional season, seeing 44 games between Double-A and Triple-A, and a couple of games with the Tigers. In his 3.2 innings with the Tigers he allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out three batters. Ruffin has performed best while in Triple-A, recording a 1.84 ERA over 14-plus innings and 17 strikeouts opposite just six walks.
