Michigan State Spartans tight end Dion Sims is unlikely to play this weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes due to an ankle injury he sustained in Saturday's victory over the Indiana Hoosiers, according to Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press.
Sims, a junior, is the Spartans' leading receiver this season with 24 receptions for 313 yards and two touchdowns. He did not catch a pass against Indiana before exiting with the injury.
Head coach Mike Dantonio says Sims may be available in the coming weeks, but he does not expect him to play this Saturday.
"I don't know that he'll make it this week," Dantonio said of Sims, "but he may make it next week. We'll have to see how he responds in the next couple days, really."
Sims was in the midst of a breakout season prior to his injury. In his freshman and sophomore year combined, Sims had only 23 receptions for 232 yards.
