No. 5 Michigan begins their NIT Season Tip-Off run at home against the IUPUI Jaguars Monday night.
The sixteen team tournament is broken down into four regionals with the highest seeded team hosting the first two games. Michigan, Virginia, Kansas State and Pittsburgh are the four top-seeds and will therefore host their respective regionals. The winners of each regional will then meet in Madison Square Garden over the Thanksgiving holiday. Michigan is the tournament overall No. 1 seed.
The Wolverines opened their 2012-13 campaign this past weekend with a rout of Slippery Rock, 100-62. Tim Hardaway, Jr. led the way for Michigan going 5-for-5 from behind the arc, scoring 25 points in all. The performance put him over 1,000 career points at Michigan.
IUPUI heads into the matchup already with a win against a Wolverine team this season, a 67-54 victory over the Utah Valley University Wolverines. IUPUI and Michigan are joined by Bowling Green and Cleveland State in the North regional.
