The Miami (OH) hockey team beat Michigan State 2-0 Saturday, ending MSU's three-game winning streak.
The Red Hawks scored eight minutes into the game when Curtis McKenzie notched a goal on assists by Riley Barber and Austin Czarnik.
The team got on the board again four minutes into the third period when Alex Wideman scored his fourth goal of the season, set up by Taylor Richart.
Freshman goalie Jake Hildebrand stopped 34 of 38 shots for Michigan State. It was the third straight game Hildebrand started. The Spartans are now 4-6-2 on the season and 3-4-2 in the CCHA.
The Spartans managed just 13 shots on goal. The team had seven shots on goal in the first period, but Miami goalie Jay Williams saw just six shots the rest of the game. Michigan State next plays on Nov. 30, when the Spartans host Ohio State for a two-game series. The Buckeyes are currently 4-3-3 overall and 3-1-2 in CCHA play.
