No. 15 Michigan State looks to win their fifth straight contest Sunday as they host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Spartans stand at 4-1 this season and are coming off a 70-52 victory over the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Friday night. Keith Appling has led the scoring for the Spartans early on, averaging 16.4 points and four assists per game. Big man Derrick Nix leads Michigan State in rebounding with 8.2 per game.
The Ragin' Cajuns, led by sophomore forward Shawn Long, hope to upset the Spartans on their own court Sunday. Louisiana-Lafayette is 2-3 this season with losses to Boise State, Texas Southern and New Mexico State but, like Michigan State, has notched a double-digit win against Oakland earlier this year. Long leads the Cajuns with 15.0 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Sunday's game will be a tuneup for the Spartans before they head south to face the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
