With a possible BCS bowl berth on the line, the Kent State Golden Flashes and Northern Illinois Huskies will hit the field Friday night for the 2012 MAC Championship Game.
Rarely has as much been on the line in the conference's championship game -- an event that dates back to 1997. In fact, the meeting between the No. 17 Golden Flashes and No. 18 Huskies is only the second meeting of ranked schools in the game's history.
The implications run deep for the winning team, as both will try to climb into the BCS's top 16 on its final weekend, which would guarantee that team a spot in a BCS bowl because the Big East's champion is likely to finish behind No. 16 this season.
The two teams feature dynamic playmakers in Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch, who also leads the team in rushing, and Kent State running back Dri Archer, who also leads the team in receiving yards.
Date and Time: Friday, Nov. 30, 7 p.m.
Location: Ford Field, Detroit, Mich.
TV: ESPN2
Odds: Northern Illinois is favored by seven points
