Michigan Wolverines basketball captain Josh Bartelstein had surgery on his injured right ankle and will miss six to seven weeks, according to MLive.com's Nick Baumgardner.
Bartelstein, a walk-on, hasn't played since the Wolverines' 91-54 win over IUPUI on Nov. 12. He hasn't had much of an impact on the court this season, playing a total of four minutes and compiling one assist and one steal. Despite his meager numbers, Bartelstein's leadership has been a valuable asset to the Wolverines.
The Wolverines (6-0) are ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' Polls. Michigan won the NIT Season Tip-Off with victories over IUPUI, Cleveland State, Pittsburgh and Kansas State, and the team is coming off a 79-72 win over No. 18 NC State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Next up for Michigan is a road date at Bradley. The Wolverines tip off from Carver Arena in Peoria, Ill., Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
