Chris Greenwood decision coming soon for Lions

The Lions will need to decide whether to activate rookie cornerback Chris Greenwood off the PUP list.

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

The Detroit Lions will have another decision to make this week regarding a player currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Rookie cornerback Chris Greenwood's three weeks of practice are almost used up, and Detroit needs to decide whether to activate him from the list, or sit him for the rest of the season.

Greenwood's practice window expires today 4 p.m. and coach Jim Schwartz admitted their is "still a possibility" that the corner lands on the season-ending list:

"We'll sort of try to make the best decision for the team with that and the best decision with him."

Greenwood was the Lion's fifth-round drat pick out of Albion this season. Detroit had always considered the cornerback to be a project, but felt like they could not pass up on his combination of size and speed.

The rookie underwent abdominal surgery in May, forcing him to miss all of training camp and the first six weeks of the season. Schwartz acknowledged that missing training camp hurt the cornerback, but that Greenwood has still done a good job of staying involved.
