The Central Michigan Chippewas will face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the 2012 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. This bowl berth means the Chippewas won't have to leave the state, as the game is played at Ford Field in Detroit. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 26, with television coverage by ESPN.
Central Michigan finished the regular season 6-6 overall and 4-4 in Mid-American Conference play. The Chippewas finished the season on a three-game winning streak to attain bowl eligibility, and this will be their first appearance in a postseason game since they played in the 2009 GMAC Bowl. CMU is 2-4 all-time in bowl games.
Western Kentucky finished its regular season at 7-5 overall and is making the first bowl trip in school history. The Hilltoppers only recently transitioned to the Football Bowl Subdivision, and they've only been eligible to participate in a bowl game since the 2009 season.
