The Detroit Pistons not only got a signature win of the 2012-2013 season by beating the Miami Heat on Friday night, but also took a step in the right direction in the Central Division standings. Detroit is now only 8.5 games back of leader Indiana after the Pistons' third victory in four games.

The Pacers still sit atop the division with a 17-12 record overall, thanks to a victory over Phoenix on Friday night. Milwaukee and Chicago are both one game behind Indiana, while Detroit is in fourth place thanks to their 109-99 Friday victory over the Heat. The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the cellar with a 7-24 record.

With the win, it will be interesting to see if the Pistons can make a real push into the Eastern Conference playoff race. Detroit is six games behind the eighth place Celtics, who are just 14-14 overall.

The Pistons will next take the court Sunday against Milwaukee in a 6:30 p.m. CT tip. The game can be seen locally on FxDT.
