The Detroit Red Wings are now in the record book, and on Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars they will try to set the all-time record for consecutive road wins. Sunday night's 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers made sure that they tied record with their 20th consecutive victory at Joe Louis Arena. The Flyers pulled their goalie with 1:30 left in an attempt to tie, but Joey McDonald was up to the task.
Ironically, the Red Wings tied the Flyers in the 70s and the Boston Bruins in the 30s for their 20th straight win at home.
It was Johan Franzen's 22nd goal of the season just 52 seconds into the third period that proved to be the difference. Franzen also drew a critical holding penalty with 42 seconds left to negate the extra attacker advantage for Philadelphia. It was a league-leading 10th game-winning goal for Franzen.
