The last time that the Michigan Wolverines (17-6, 7-3 Big Ten) and Michigan State (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) met, Trey Burke and the Wolverines pulled out a 60-59 win at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on Jan. 17. Today, the Spartans will look to split the season series as the series moves to Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, where Michigan State has yet to lose this season.
The game has major implications in the Big Ten, as both teams try to keep up with the league-leading Ohio State Buckeyes, who are 8-2 in the conference. While the Wolverines are coming off an impressive 68-56 win over the Indiana Hoosiers, the Spartans will need to kickstart their offense after scoring a season-low points in a 42-41 loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Draymond Green, who has a sprained left knee, has vowed to play today. After losing in Ann Arbor, Green had guaranteed the Spartans would win the rematch.
While Michigan State has been perfect at home so far this season, the Wolverines not only won in Ann Arbor just a few weeks ago, but they also won 61-57 in East Lansing last season and have won three straight in the season series.
The game is set to start at 1:00 p.m. central and will air on CBS.
